Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Abbott Grabs Podium Before H&H Summer Break
Irvine, Calif. – Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Destry Abbott earned his fourth podium in five races at the AMA National Hare and Hound round in dusty Jericho, Utah. With his consistent finishes this season, he’s able to retain second place in the point standings going into a four-month summer break.

Dust Was A Factor
With a second place result under his belt from last race, Abbott felt ready for his second win. The Utah desert tends to be dusty and on Saturday it was a huge factor in the race.
“As always, the start was super important and I was able to funnel into second,” said Abbott. “I was able to take the lead, but we were going back and forth. The dust was big when we went into the second loop and there were a lot of trees. If you were in someone’s dust, you couldn’t see if a tree was coming up. I never crashed and didn’t feel like I made any big mistakes. It was one of those days in desert racing where everything wasn’t going my way, but I’m still happy I came away with second.” |

Long Race
The race in Utah was the rider’s first 100-mile race and Abbott was happy to be out on the bike for nearly three hours.
“I really like when fitness becomes a factor in desert racing,” said Abbott. “I know I can handle the long races. This is the best I’ve felt in a long time.” |

The AMA National Hare and Hound series has four riders making their push for the championship. Along with those four riders, the series has been packed with talent, making every race critical.
“This year, the series has been stacked,” said Abbott. “It’s really great to see the series grow and everyone come out with their best. I definitely have to be ready at every race. I love the competition and it’s always more fun when you’re battling.”
