First win for BMW in Spain
Juha Salminen captured a debut overall win in the hotly contested Spanish Enduro Championship. The Finn won round
four held at Becerrea/northern Spain over WEC front-runners Ivan Cervantes, Oriol Mena and Cristobal Guerrero.
Salminen entered the event with a completely new setup to his bike after the team had made valuable changes. Salminen
competed with confidence on the technical and demanding terrain that also offered several tricky uphill sections. The
multi-time World champ rode consistenly, avoided mistakes and brought home the win five seconds ahead of Cervantes -
earning him first place in the combined class rankings.
Salminen has now improved to third in the standings. He´s sitting only ten points behind Oriol Mena. In the E2 class,
Salminen is just eight points behind the leader.
The championship continues with two more rounds in September. Salminen remains a strong title candidate. BMW Spain
representative Aaron Bernardez came into the race second in the E3 standings, but had to retire due to mechanical
gremlins.
