Pikes Peak is one of the “crown jewels” of Adventure Riding in North America. Pikes Peak is one of the highest places that a motorized vehicle can travel in the USA, and you’ll get to ride the same trail as some modern day legends.
What do we mean by that? The Pikes Peak Hillclimb is one of the oldest motorsports events in the USA and it’s known as “The Race to the Clouds” – many famous people have earned their racing stripes at the “Peak.” If you are into racing you’ll surely recognize names like Mario Andretti and Bobby Unser. Mario and Al are but two famous drivers that have run the “race to the clouds” and though we won’t be “racing” we’ll enjoy the climb just as much. This Just In: On July 17th at the BMW MOA International Rally in Redmond, OR we conducted our 30th Anniversary of the GS Anti-Concours event. The event was a hit with about 160 registered Anti-Concours participants in four categories: Airhead, Oilhead, Hexhead and Vertical. Each group was then judged in four sub-categories: High Performance, Hardcore, Most Distracted and World-Ready.
Awards were presented to top 3 winners in each subcategory, plus best in show.
Also famed world traveler Helge Pedersen and BMW chief historian Fred Jakobs each presented their top personal choice with a very unique trophy.
In addition, both Pedersen and Jakobs received life time achievement trophies from BMW Motorrad USA Vice President, Pieter de Waal.
This was an exciting event for all participants and we thank the BMW MOA for helping us host the 30th Anniversary GS Anti-Concours.
