JEREMY McGRATH TAKES BACK TO BACK FIFTHS
TORC Series Rounds 9 and 10 – Route 66 Raceway, Chicagoland, IL

LOS ANGELES, CA (August 28, 2010) – In a big change of race pace, moving racing from familiar weekend stops to mid-week race nights, rounds 9 and 10 of the Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL, debuted this Wednesday and Thursday at Route 66 Raceway in Chicagoland, IL.

Coming directly from his Motorsports Hall of Fame of American induction activities in Detroit, seven-time AMA Supercross Champion Jeremy McGrath arrived at the Route 66 Raceway just hours before race start and accepted the final of his Hall of Fame honors via live remote just before the start of the evening’s racing!

Later, in the PRO 2WD class, McGrath battled hard but mechanical difficulties ultimately left him and his Monster Energy/MasterCraft/Toyota/BFG truck with a fifth place finish.  Thursday evening, McGrath started out on the pole but mechanical issues once again plagued the Monster Energy/MasterCraft/Toyota/BFG truck causing McGrath to loose ground he was unable to make up forcing another fifth place finish.   McGrath continues to remain third in the overall championship points race with 179 points.  (Note:  Last week’s race recap incorrectly reported McGrath had moved into second place in the championships points race.)

A disappointed McGrath had this to say, “Well the week started out great with a once in a lifetime deal I went to at the Motorsports Hall of Fame in Detroit and then luck was just not on my side for these two rounds of racing that’s for sure.  Gotta get some things worked out on the truck for Crandon and would really like to put my Monster Energy/MasterCraft/Toyota/BFG truck back on the podium again.”
