Revolutionary external structure features ultra low profile design for maximum control and minimal weight at the lower section of the boot, while its upper design has been developed for controlled flexibility, streamlined profile and superior grip against the bike. Lightweight upper combines full-grain leather with impact and abrasion resistant PU shell for unmatched levels of safety. PU guards the toes, foot, heel, ankle, calf and shin with extra hard compounds on the toe-box, heel and Achilles tendon. This inner structure features PU protection and shock absorbing padding on the heel and ankles and an ultra thin and flexible forefoot area for increased sensitivity and control. Perforated liner is washable and replaceable.

Combining the industry’s finest piston making minds, and their six decades of motor building salvation, in association with L.A.SLEEVE, the next great piston is upon us. Introducing, the Los Angeles Piston Company. L.A.SLEEVE has entwined their knowledge with the great race engine builders of yesterday, and today, to come up with what they think will answer the demand of so many, a great piston top MX and ATV professionals can punish for so much longer, at an economic solution the average rider can afford.

LAPC will offer 2-stroke and 4-stroke piston for most modern dirt bikes and atv’s. Unlike their piston making counterparts, LAPC will not create a mass produced market monster. Instead, the LAPC will focus on only today’s most popular models for offroad, mx and atv racing and recreation. While limiting their product line to only popular models, their focus will concentrate at the finer points of piston flaws not being addressed by the big name piston brands.

LAPC will use their resources in racing to dissect the little things not being addressed by the mass produced piston brands. All LAPC pistons will have enhanced 2618 low silicon, or 4038 high silicon materials as their forgings. Pistons will be coated with their proprietary “ProMalloy” skirt and dome skating surfaces. And, patrons get at no extra charge Pro-Cross Pro-Cool under crown micro machining for uniformed deck thickness. They’re just lightened enough, with spun-bossed and window milling, gas ported (if necessary), and grooved reduction valleys to grab any residual combustion gas not being captured by the initial piston ring defense. And finally, precision honed wrist pin bores are standard for all piston applications.

Custom pistons will not be offered by the Los Angeles Piston Company. In order to produce a fine line of pistons for the professional rider and race team, yet remain economical for the average weekend warrior, LAPC strategically positions their place among the piston maker elites by not forgetting what creates a lasting relationship among their customers – affordability, quality and service. LAPC will focus their piston line with those users in mind. Piston kits will range in the retail price of $62.00 to $120.00 for 2-strikes, and $78.00 to $205 for 4-strokes.
The LAPC pistons will be sold exclusively through Niks Distributing and L.A.SLEEVE. To learn more about the Los Angeles Piston Company, please visit www.lasleeve.com or call 562-945-1098.

Acclaimed by industry professionals and consumers alike for its broadcast quality HD video capture and unrivaled versatility, the HD HERO camera now benefits from the enhanced convenience of a detachable LCD screen:

+ easy framing of complex scenes; see exactly what you are shooting

+ playback video and photos directly on the HD HERO camera

+transform the HD HERO into one of the world’s most powerful everyday cameras

The LCD BacPac illustrates GoPro’s dedication to evolving the HD HERO camera into one of the world’s most versatile HD cameras.

“We designed the HD HERO camera to be a professional HD video capture tool, and that meant planning for expandability,” said Nicholas Woodman, GoPro’s CEO. ”At the core, we’ve kept the HD HERO camera as small and light as possible, cutting out everything that isn’t required for capturing incredible HD content. Our wide angle lens allows for the omission of an LCD screen for most uses, but of course there are times when an LCD screen comes in handy. We’re excited to provide this functionality to our customers via the LCD BacPac. This is the first of many expansion BacPacs to come, and one more step towards establishing the HD HERO as one of the most versatile cameras in the world.”

Included with the new LCD BacPac are four new housing backdoors that can be attached to both the existing HD HERO waterproof housing as well as the HD Wrist housing which enables the HD HERO to be worn on the wrist. The new backdoors allow both housings to fully enclose the HD HERO camera plus LCD BacPac within the respective housings. Furthermore, the LCD BacPac is compatible with all existing GoPro mounts, when attached to the HD HERO camera.

By Scotty Breauxman

The Coyote Bag, By Giant Loop

The freedom we get from riding dirt bikes is indescribable and equally liberating all by itself. So venturing out into the wild and roughing it for days at a time trumps the feeling of just riding through your favorite trail or loop. Riders of all levels can see the value of packing some gear and heading out for an overnighter or a multi-day trek just living off what you can pack onto your bike. The pioneers at Giant Loop “get it” because that’s the kind of life they’ve led. They get that. So out of their own necessity to get the gear off their backs and onto the bike, they developed these soft luggage systems for dirt bike and dual sport riders. It’s been said that you should let the bike do most of the work and this principal applies.

After using the Giant Loop bag on a handful of day and overnight rides in Baja, we decided to test out Giant Loop’s, newer bag, the Coyote. First off, at nearly $300, this bag was worth the money and well worth the weight and volume if can hold. This bag (The Coyote) picks up where their first bag (the Giant Loop) left off. The new bag has a full longer rear zipper which gives easier access to the cargo area than its predecessor. The other really neat feature is that it comes with 3 ergonomically shaped inner bags (basically the same thing as a sleeping bag cover encasing with drawstring and cinch clip. These inner bags are shaped to the exact contour of the Coyote bag.

We ventured out into the wild on a pair of Honda’s set up for long distance riding. Our goal was to bring enough gear to keep us comfortable through the night and into the next day, which included 2 sleeping bags, a tent, and heat source with cookware, water and first aid kit.

Nicole Marcy is an intermediate level rider and chose to use Giant Loop’s Mojavi bags to haul the water and also some of her hygiene kit, a very small sampling of her requisite “girly stuff”.

On my bike (Honda XR650r) I crammed a sleeping bag into one side of the coyote and our dining/cooking gear into the other side. The back center bag was filled with our cold weather gear (Capaline) and other essentials.

I strapped the tent and her sleeping bag to the outside of the COYOTE Bag, which comes with nylon webbing strap attachments on the top-back of the bag.

After we strapped in and went through our checklist, we took off out into the bush with an hour and half of daylight remaining. Once we got far enough away from our staging area to feel like we were out in the wild, we found a great site to build our camp and we parked. A lot of times, a rider might pull into a hotel with these bags on the bikes and then its simple, you just spend 30 seconds to remove the bag from the bikes, and carry into the hotel room just like you would your luggage. But out here there was no need to remove the bags; we just unpacked them.

Everything come out quickly and, more importantly, everything went right back in just as easily.

A couple of things to note: When you are carrying 30-40 pounds of gear on the back of your bike, you are giving up a considerable amount of maneuverability and performance. That’s no problem if you are aware. Another thing, other riders around you will ask questions or just simply stare at you when you’re unloading your bike at the local OHV.

We’ve tested three of Giant Loop’s bags.

The Original Giant Loop bag: This bag is actually mounted onto the bikes rear fender and side panels with mounting hardware and can be portable-ized when not using for4 storage. We just cinched the straps down and the bag was totally unnoticeable when ridden hard through whoops and at race speeds.

The Coyote bag: Lager in volume than the original Giant Loop bag and comes with internal nylon bags to compartmentalize the overall storage area within the bag. This bags mounts like a fender bag on the fender and had a pair of straps that loop around the bikes main frame (or on some models, the sub-frame). This bag should be removed from the bike when not using for storage and, when filled, this bag will take away from performance to a degree.

The Mojavi bag is perfect for day rides and/ or those rides where you get better far away. This bag also detaches in 30 seconds or less. The two independent side bags can each carry a pair of mid-sized plastic water bottles, some oil or some containers of extra gas. The Mojave also has a rear fender compartment that is good for a spare tube, some tools or in our case, some overnight girly stuff.

Look at these photos and imagine taking yourself, your wife or buddies out to your favorite vista point. Let your imagination run wild. With the Giant Loop Coyote bag you can make it happen.
