Hatfield-McCoy Country Flooding Update

   Despite her best efforts, Mother Nature couldn't keep the residents of southern West Virginia and the Hatfield-McCoy Trail System down for long.
 
  The early May flooding brought a state of emergency for many counties throughout southern WV, and hundreds of National Guard troops were activated and sent in to help residents pick up the pieces.
 
  But just a month after devastating floods hit the area, the Hatfield-McCoy Trails are fully operational, and nearly 95 percent of the lodges and cabins adjacent to the system are open and taking reservations for the summer riding season.  
 
  “The people of southern West Virginia have always been a resilient bunch,” said Hatfield-McCoy Executive Director Jeff Lusk. “I'm sure these folks want nothing more than to see our riders coming through town and start seeing things get back to normal.”
